Keep your pack going for the long haul. Routine cleaning and conditioning of both the canvas and leather elements of your pack protects it from mold, mildew, color fading, dry and/or cracked leather, faster break wear of your pack.

Canvas Care

Our canvas is tough, made to last generations. Proper care and cleaning of your pack can make sure your pack lasts. Let's talk about how to clean your canvas Duluth Pack using our Canvas Cleaner.

1. Spray cleaner on a cloth or soft bristle brush.

2. Gently scrub the area until you lift off dirt and grime.

3. Allow to air dry in a warm and dry place to prevent mold and mildew buildup.

Leather Care

Keep your leather packs, straps, and more lasting for generations.

1. Clean your leather. Apply Duluth Pack Leather cleaner to a soft sponge or bristle brush and gently scrub desired area. Dry with a dry cloth.

2. Apply leather dressing to condition and waterproof you leather. To apply, use a soft cloth apply a thin coat and gently work the dressing into the leather and seams in small circular motions for deep conditioning.

3. For packs that need extra protection, touched up or exposed to the elements use an additional leather cream. To apply, use on dry leather after cleaning. Use a soft cloth to apply a thin coat and gently work the cream into the leather and seams in small circular motions for deep conditioning & waterproofing.

4. Allow to dry in a warm and dry place.

Storing Your Pack

After a big trip it can feel tempting to throw your muddy and wet pack in your basement. Doing this can break down your bag quickly creating mold, mildew, dry and cracked leather, faster canvas wear.

Dos:

  • Store in a warm, dry place to prevent mold and mildew.
  • Store away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
  • Allow your pack to dry before storing to further prevent mold and mildew.
  • Clean and condition before long term storage.

Don'ts:

  • Avoid storing your pack wet or in a humid environment. This can create mold and mildew on the canvas and/or leather.
  • Avoid storing your pack dirty. Storing your pack muddy can create more friction on the canvas causing faster wear.

FAQs

Leather dressing is a great all around conditioner meant to prevent cracking and deeply restore worn leather.

Leather cream is semi thick conditioner that is great for extra protection from the elements.

Both conditioners create a waterproof layer on the leather as well as create a shine finish when buffed.

No. Washing your canvas pack in a washing machine can cause color bleeding and can potentially ruin your washing machine. Instead, use a canvas cleaner to hand wash your pack.

No. Canvas packs must be washed by hand and left to air dry in a cool and dry place.

Potentially. Cracked leather if caught early enough can be treated and conditioned to prevent further cracking. However, if there are deep cracks the only method may be replacing the leather.

Because these issues are typically caused by improper care of the pack, broken straps and holes are not typically covered by the warranty. There can be special cases if the repair department declares either issues were from a manufacturing error.
